Welcome to Amboseli National Park situated in the Great Rift Valley province in Kajiado District of Kenya. The park is close to the border of Tanzania and Kenya. It features one of the eye-catching landscapes that is home to lots of African wildlife plus the spectacular snowcapped Kilimanjaro Mountain in the background of the Park. A game drive safari to Amboseli takes you to groove on large herds of African elephants. Amboseli National Park is popularly known for hosting a big atmosphere as well the far horizon layers that come together with the dry and dusty earth squashed for by herds of wildlife animals. Thus the name Amboseli is originated from a Maasai word meaning salty dusty. The park has massive underground waters which traverse through thousands of volcanic rocks of the Kilimanjaro ice cap thus giving out fresh clear water springs. Due to climatic seasonal changes, there is a change experienced from drought to flood just as in the early 1900 era when the park used to experience heavy nonstop rains. These turned the reserve into a swamp then after some years, there was no rains thus the landscape turned into a dust landscape. Amboseli National Park is situated approximately 240 kilometers away from Nairobi town. As you drive to the park, you go through Nairobi –Arusha high way and Namanga then connect to the park via Meshanani Gate. The other route is the Mombasa route which takes you through Tsavo West National Park and later connects to the gate of Kimana of Amboseli National Park. For travelers who have issues of sitting a safari car for long hours, you can opt for flight to that connects you the park. When you take a flight to Amboseli National Park, you land in the Amboseli bush airstrip although you can use any of the park lodge’s private airstrips.
